And then there were three... D1048 is gifted to WLA!

The Western Locomotive Association is delighted to announce that the owners of Class 52 locomotive D1048 Western Lady, have decided to gift their locomotive to our Association.

Many enthusiasts will know that this will bring our Class 52 fleet to a grand total of three Westerns, alongside D1013 Western Ranger and D1062 Western Courier. The WLA are also grateful to the Severn Valley Railway for allowing D1048 to remain on the SVR for the time being, whilst a full assessment is carried out on the locomotive and the WLA membership will be asked if they wish to see the locomotive return to working order, if at all possible.

In the meantime, the priority for the WLA will be to return D1013 back into service, during 2024…!
