Following the Western Locomotive Association’s recent AGM held on the 11th November 2023, the WLA Membership have decided to keep locomotive D1013 Western Ranger in its current blue with full yellow ends livery - for the time being at least!
The decision was made after the locomotive had received a full repaint by its Working Members to make the locomotive presentable at the Severn Valley Railway’s highly successful Autumn Diesel Gala event, held towards the end of September. The original plans to paint the locomotive maroon with half yellow ends, were placed on-hold due to the amount of manpower and preparation work that would have been required.
A proposal was made from the WLA Board & Management Committee to keep D1013 in its present livery and to reconsider options for a livery change, once the present full overhaul has been completed, expected during 2024.
Having achieved over 100 new members following the recent acquisition of D1048 Western Lady, the WLA membership now stands at over 400 members, who will eventually decide what livery D1013 should be in the future.
Apart from just two abstentions, the proposal was accepted unanimously by the Membership.
