D1062 "B" Exam Completed

With D1062 residing in Kidderminster TMD during March and April, full use of the facilities has been made, undertaking a huge number of important jobs, before the locomotive could complete an extensive “B” exam. The list of jobs included: replacing “A” end preheater, replacing torque reaction arm suspension rubbers on “B” end bogie, replacing all brake gauges with recalibrated, restored gauges, cleaning air intake filters, greasing up of bogies, checking and topping up all oil levels, topping up batteries, partly dismantling “A” end engine and resolving leaks on three cylinder heads with re-sized copper ring for No.9 liner and swapping No7 & No.8 head positions, rebuilding “A” end engine, tyre exam, under frame checks and cleaning, bodywork filling, painting and polishing, name & number plate refitting, new windscreen wipers fitted at both ends…! D1062 is due to celebrate its 60^th Birthday on 6^th May 2023 and therefore, every effort was being made to ensure that this deadline could be achieved.
