We are delighted to share some fantastic news about two of the WLA’s younger Working Members, Jack Richards and Krystian Rekowski, who have both secured apprenticeships with Alstom at the Oxley Traction & Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot.
Although Jack and Krystian have been WLA members for less than a year, they have already gained valuable hands-on experience at Kidderminster TMD through their volunteer work on D1013’s bogie overhaul project, and D1062’s winter maintenance programme, which included assisting with the replacement bogie cardan shafts at “A” end.
During the recruitment process, Alstom took a keen interest in the pair’s involvement with the WLA, particularly as they had no previous railway industry experience before joining up as volunteers and are both still under the age of 18. Their commitment and enthusiasm clearly made a strong impression.
As apprentices, Jack and Krystian will now have the opportunity to develop their skills further whilst working on Class 390, 805 and 807 electric units. We congratulate them on this outstanding achievement and wish them every success as they begin their railway careers.
