WLA Business Plan Updated!

16th April 2024

The WLA has just updated its Business Plan for 2024 to 2026. Following a record year for trading during 2023, the WLA will be hard pressed to achieve similar results in 2024 with a number of challenges to face. Not least will be the need to raise additional funds to complete D1013's current overhaul, including ambitious plans for its forthcoming bogie overhaul. The WLA is currently working hard to return D1062 back into traffic, following replacement pre-heater and dyno-starter at "B" end, plus some much-needed bodywork repairs, which are still in progress, despite the return to traffic expected on the 4 May 2024. And then there is still the engineering assessment required on D1048 later in the year, to help determine what can be done for its future preservation.

The Business Plan helps to provide useful background information on how the WLA is structured and how it operates, whilst outlining its aims and objectives for three years ahead. WLA Chairman, Roger Smith commented that "the Plan shows that whilst the WLA has been successful in recent years, we know that being successful is very much a challenge, and the result of a huge amount of work by a relatively small team!"
